Kane no Naru Oka at the base is wide and long, and it's where most Hakuba instructors take beginners. There's also a cheaper beginner-area lift ticket, so you don't need a full-mountain pass on your first day.
Mid-mountain is great for short skidded turns, the base area is good for ground tricks, and there's a managed off-piste zone called DBD. Most CASI exams in Hakuba are held here too. Honestly, nobody leaves Tsugaike disappointed.
This is my own take from riding here. Conditions change every season and every day, so on the day I'll pick runs to suit the snow and your level.
